Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani met with Marwan Kai, chief executive of Media International Services, and Sanad Kassem, account director at CNN International Commercial, to discuss how CNN will promote Egypt’s various tourist destinations during its partnership with the Ministry that was signed into fruition last May.

In May 2019, Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism embarked on an expanded partnership with CNN in a global tourism campaign that showcases a contemporary Egypt throughout an innovative mix of TV, digital, and social media platforms. The objective of the partnership is to continue and accelerate the growth in the country’s tourism. Innovation lies at the heart of the partnership, through the utilisation of CNN’s sophisticated data capabilities and insight to reach global audiences.

During the meeting, CNN officials presented all the promotional work the company implemented in partnership with the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board during the last period.

The two sides agreed and discussed the necessity of creating new promotional materials that CNN will produce. This will include archaeological and tourist accomplishments, such as linking cultural and beach tourism locations and the grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2020. CNN will also be highlighting sites that have recently completed their restoration processes like the Baron palace in Heliopolis and the Step Pyramid of Djoser in the ancient Saqqara region.
