Egypt’s Social Solidarity Minister calls for offering care for homeless elderly

Egypt’s Social Solidarity Minister Nevine El-Kabbaj on Tuesday called for different government bodies to take care of homeless elderly as winter comes, according to a ministry statement.

The unit of “Protecting Homeless Children Programme” held a meeting with the rapid intervention team and the general administration of social defence as well as the judicial police to discuss offering homeless elderly a decent life.

Hosni Youssef, the director of the Protecting Homeless Children Programme that seven social organisations are working together to offer protection to the homeless elderly in addition to four other care homes which cooperate with the ministry on this issue, the statement added.

The ministry urged citizens to report if they found homeless children or elderly throughout the ministry hotline or through the programme’s official Facebook page.
