Egypt’s several governmental entities will act like one entity and all dealings with the government will be electronic, said Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, over his participation in the US-Egypt Future Prosperity Forum on Monday.

“Citizens will no longer be required to present paper documents for any government entity,” the minister said, as part of the country’s plan for transformation into a digital society.

“We’re turning toward digital transformation in cooperation with international partners,” the minister said.

Digitalising the public services are the top priority for the Egyptian government, the minister mentioned, adding that the government seeks to provide the citizens with the public services in a convenient and easy way.

“Digitalising Port Said” project has started recently. “We chose this governorate for its limited population which increases the project’s success chance,” the minister said.

About 170 services will be provided to Port Said’s residents electronically before the end of the year, Talaat mentioned.
