Two-time African Player of the Year and Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has joined a star-studded list of players, including legends Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry, who have won back-to-back Premier League Golden Boot awards.

The award was a good compensation for the Egyptian star after losing the title for Manchester City in the last round of the competition.

Salah presented a good performance with Liverpool during all competitions. However, his efforts were not enough to lead the Reds to the title they have missed since 1990.

Despite the Egyptian Pharaoh’s failure to score for several weeks in the competition, he did not leave empty-handed and crowned the Golden Boot with 22 goals for the second time in a row to become the first player Egyptian and Arab player to achieve such accomplishment.

Salah, the Liverpool star, won the Golden Boot award jointly with his teammate Sadio Mani and Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal.

The list of plyers who won the Golden Boot twice in a row includes Alan Shearer, Michael Owen, Harry Kane, the French Thierry Henry, and Robin van Persie.

Noteworthy, Salah defied all expectations in his debut Liverpool season in 2017/18 by scoring 32 Premier League goals in just 36 appearances – the highest tally in a 38-game Premier League season.

Salah celebrated the award with his wife and daughter Mecca at the Anfield. He expressed his extreme sadness for the loss of the title, stressing that the team did everything and only lost one game but still could not win the trophy.

Nevertheless, Salah still has a chance to win a trophy when he plays the UEFA Champions League final on 1 June against Tottenham Hotspur.

Salah took part in the last UCL final when the Reds lost to Real Madrid 3-1. He was injured after a violent encounter with Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.
