105.5% increase in Egypt’s exports to US in 2017: CAPMAS

The value of Egyptian exports to United States reached EGP 23.6bn in 2017, accounting for 5.1% of Egypt’s exports to the world, this is up from EGP 11.5bn in 2016, marking an increase of 105.5%, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The CAPMAS announced on Wednesday the Economic Relations between Egypt and USA Bulletin. It addresses analytically the Foreign Trade volume between Egypt and USA.

According to the CAPMAS, exports of garments came in first place with 51% of the total exports of USA, reaching EGP 12bn in 2017, compared to EGP 6.4bn in 2016, with an increase of 88.8%.

The value of Egyptian imports from the United States reached EGP 69.1bn in 2017 and represent 5.9% of Egypt’s imports from the world, compared to EGP 38.1bn in 2016, an increase of 81.4 %.

Imports of boilers, machinery, devices, mechanical tools, and their parts came at first rank as it reached 12.9% of the total imports from USA, reaching EGP 8.9bn in 2017, compared to EGP 5.6bn in 2016, with an increase of 58.3%.

The US investments in Egypt reached EGP 79.9m in 2017, compared to EGP 27.02m in 2016, marking san increase of 195.7%.
