Sobhi discusses military cooperation with US National Guard commander

Defence Minister Sedki Sobhi met on Wednesday with Joseph Mingle, commander of the US National Guard, and his accompanying delegation that is currently visiting Egypt.

During the meeting, both officials discussed cooperation in training and the exchange of military expertise in many fields.

The meeting further discussed a number of issues of common concern.

 

The minister expressed his pride of the military partnership and cooperation between the armed forces of  the two countries, which span decades of joint efforts for the security and peace of the Middle East.

He also expressed his aspiration to continue coordination and work to advance the prospects of military cooperation in a manner that achieves the common interests of both countries. The meeting was attended by a number of leaders of the armed forces.

In a similar context, Sobhi attended a ceremony that aimed at increasing the combat effectiveness of one of the units in the Central Military Region after developing it, according to an official statement.

The leader of the Central Military Region, general Ayman Amer, delivered a speech at the ceremony, during which he expressed the desire to increase the soldiers’ combat effectiveness in the region to meet the high expectations of the leadership.

Sobhi listened to the reports on increasing soldiers’ combat effectiveness, which included the technical, administrative, and combat status of the region and its developments regarding arms and equipment.

Sobhi stressed that Egypt’s security depends on maintaining the strength and unity of the armed forces, as well as its ability to continuously develop its effectiveness and efficiency.

He also praised the cooperation between the armed forces and the police.
