The National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) has accepted a technical proposal submitted by EcoConServ Environmental Solutions to update the resettlement plan and prepare a reconciliation action plan for those affected by construction during the first phase of the metro’s fourth line.
According to a source at the NAT, the technical examination committee held a session on 28 September and accepted the technical proposal presented by EcoConServ Environmental Solutions offices. The financial proposal will be examined soon, and, pending its approval, a contract will be signed.
The NAT assigned advisory works to SYSTRA consulting to oversee the implementation of the third phase of the metro’s third line. The financial offer’s total value provided by SYSTRA consulting is roughly EGP 576m.
The NAT has contracted with an alliance of Egyptian and Japanese companies that will serve as supervising consultants on the implementation of the first phase of the metro’s fourth Line (Al-Haram line). The alliance consists of five companies: Nippon Koei, Nippon Civic, Oriental Consultants, ACE, and EHAF. The advisory and supervision cost is EGP 976m.
The authority plans to create six new lines by 2032 that will service greater Cairo and its surrounding areas. The actual construction of the fourth line began in January.
The metro currently serves around 4m passengers daily, through its two main lines Helwan-Al-Marg , Al-Muneeb-Shubra, and a third line that runs from Al-Ataba to Ard El-Maared
