Police forces arrested and fired tear gas on anti-government protesters in Alexandria and Giza, as scores of Egyptians have taken to the streets to participate in Friday protests against the recent Egyptian-Saudi maritime demarcation.

According to the Socialist Popular Alliance Party, two protesters were arrested in Ibrahimia, Alexandria, while eyewitnesses say Security Forces arrested another eight demonstrators.

The Ministry of Interior stated several saboteurs were attempting to denounce state institutions but police forces countered them.

In Cairo, riot police dispersed protesters demonstrating in Moustafa Mahmoud square in Giza.

A crowd gathered in front of the Press Syndicate in downtown Cairo to protest the Egyptian-Saudi agreement.

Reports suggest that no single political affiliation has dominated the protests. However, Islamist and secular entities are reported to have participated.
