Anti-torture T-shirt detainee Mahmoud Huseein granted release

After more than two years in remand, Mahmoud Mohamed Hussein, also known as the ‘anti-torture T-shirt’ detainee was finally granted a release on bail on Tuesday evening, his brother Tarek ‘Tito’ confirmed.

“Mahmoud was released on am EGP 1,000 bail,” Tito posted to his official Facebook account.

Hussein was detained on 25 January 2014, and spent more than two years in detention without trial. Last January, he exceeded the maximum legal remand period which is set for two years.
