Journalists will protest Wednesday in front of the Press Syndicate

Egyptian journalists will protest Wednesday at 5pm in front of the Press Syndicate. A group of journalists led by Khaled El-Balshy, head of the Freedoms’ Committee at the syndicate, held a two-day sit-in at the syndicate which began Monday.

The protest aims to bring attention to the harsh conditions detained journalists suffer from inside prison, as well as the poor health conditions of several detainees. Journalists demand the release of their detained colleagues, and the end of the security crackdown imposed on the press.

The Press Syndicate hosted many conferences and rallies on its stairs during 2015, calling for the respect of human rights and the protection of journalists.
