More than 400 business representatives and leaders from Egypt, the Arab world, Africa and the Mediterranean region have gathered in Cairo on Sunday to discuss logistics services in Egypt.

The Egypt International Logistics Forum was organised by the Federation of the Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC), Al-Iktissad Wal Aamal Group in cooperation with the Union of African Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Professions (UACCIAP) and the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME).

Benefiting from the Suez Canal expansion project, Egypt has potential to become a global logistics hub, said CEO of Lebanon-based Al-Iktissad Wal Aamal Group Raouf Abou Zaki in his speech.

Abou Zaki noted that the ongoing parliamentary elections in Egypt will improve the investment climate in Egypt “as the parliament will consider the needed legislations for investment”.

Honorary president of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA) Jean-Claude Delen also confirmed that Egypt has the talents to make use of the opportunities created near the Suez Canal zone.

Meanwhile, President of ASCAME Mohamed Choucair said developing logistics services in Egypt will result in improving the trade flow in the Mediterranean region.
