Military operation ‘Retribution for the martyr’ in North Sinai: A timeline

The army launched operation “Retribution for the martyr” in North Sinai on 7 September.

According to daily military accounts, security raids resulted in the killing of hundreds of “terrorist elements”, as well as engagement in some clashes, which left a few security personnel dead.

In total, six security forces were killed and 11 were injured, as announced by the official Facebook page of military spokesperson Mohamed Samir.

On the seventh day of the operation, the army said 80 arrested suspects were released after it was proven they had not been involved in terrorism activities.
