The Ministry of Interior released Saturday a televised statement on operations that led to the killing of six suspects involved in recent attacks in Cairo and Fayoum.

The suspects were involved in the deaths of a policeman at the Niger embassy located in Cairo and a child in Fayoum.

Last Sunday, the daughter of a policeman and a lawyer were killed in a drive-by shooting in Fayoum, whilst on 29 July, a policeman at the Niger embassy in Giza was killed in a similar attack.

Regarding the Fayoum incident, the ministry announced in a statement the killings of five suspects in a hideout, “in light of the information that was available to the national security department on the hiding of leading operatives in the governorate, most notable of them Abdelsalam Ateyya [who was] responsible for the terrorist attacks of the Muslim Brotherhood in Fayoum…inside a farm owned by the Brotherhood member Abdel Nasser Abdel Fattah”. The statement added that they were charged in several cases including killing and arson amongst others.

The statement also revealed that 10 individuals accused of participating in the Niger embassy attack in July, alongside other attacks, were arrested. Another member of the group in Giza was killed after a fire fight, according to the ministry statement.
