Arab national security tops Arab Summit agenda: El-Araby

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Arab League Secretary General Nabil El-Araby Saturday to review the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit.

The summit is scheduled to tackle Arab national security, unity between Arab countries and measures to root out terrorism.

Egypt will host the Arab Summit on 28-29 March. El-Araby noted that Arab national security will top the summit’s agenda.

Among the issues that will be tackled include the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the situation in Libya, Syria and Iraq. Islamic State and their affiliates have been expanding their operations in Iraq.

The situation in Yemen will also be discussed in light of Shi’a militants, the Houthi rebels, are facing opposition tribes from Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) militants.
