Engineer Mohamed Ahmed Lotfy, chairman of the Board of Directors of Mohandes Insurance Company, stated that a personal accident insurance policy would be granted to labourers working on the new Suez Canal project with a total EGP 50m in coverage.

A Monday press statement did not mention the number of labourers working on the project that would be covered under the policy, nor the value of coverage in the event of death or permanent disability sustained in whole or in part.

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi announced in early August the launch of the Suez Canal development project, which includes the digging of a second, parallel canal, the construction of new seaports and development of an industrial zone.
