CINCINNATI: Consumer products maker Procter & Gamble Co. has resumed normal operations in Egypt in the aftermath of the fall of the country’s longtime leader.

Cincinnati-based spokeswoman Robyn Schroeder says both P&G plants outside of Cairo and a general office in the city have reopened in the past week. She says P&G officials were satisfied that the some 1,500 employees and contractors could safely return to work.

The plants closed Jan. 26 amid escalating protests against Hosni Mubarak. The Cairo general office had closed earlier, and employees were told to work from home.

The global company whose brands include Gillette shavers and Pantene shampoo makes diapers, detergents, soaps and men’s hygiene products in Egypt.
