Rafah border crossing closed on Friday

The Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip on Palestinian territories witnessed the crossing of 1121 people in both directions on Thursday, according to state-run MENA.

The border crossing was opened on Monday to Thursday.

A total of 729 people crossed from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and 392 returned from Egypt to Gaza on the last day.

Throughout Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday a total number of 5208 crossed the border, 1926 people arrived to Egypt and 3282 left Egypt to Gaza.

On Wednesday evening, four Palestinians were abducted as they were heading to Cairo, according to a statement by the Palestinian Hamas movement which is in control of the Gaza Strip. No group claimed responsibility for the act.

Their whereabouts are so far unknown.
