Ramadan is known for its long nights of food, shisha and music, and there is no better way to get your dose of the festive spirit of the holy month than to spend some time in one of the many khaimas, named after the traditional tents, all over the city.

Si Omar

The Fairmont Heliopolis Hotel is hosting the Ramadan khaima, Si Omar, calling it the Ramadan pool lounge. In addition to oriental dishes and entertainment, they offer a variety of shisha flavours.

Ramadana

Tamarai is hosting its usual khaima again this Ramadan.Located at Nile City Towers, it overlooks the Nile, serving sohour for up to 400 guests,with food prepared by Master Chef Vincent Guillou.The restaurant boasts modern-oriental decor and offers an array of entertainment including comedy shows and the like.

Another Ramadan pool lounge, Roof Bar is hosting a khaima named for Adel Imam’s movie on Muslims and Copts. Entertainment includes live bands and celebrity figures such as Amr Al-Leithy and Saad El-Soghayar among others. It seems that for this Ramadan, they have adopted a sha’abi theme. Shisha is offered as well as an array of oriental dishes.

Le Capitol: Bab El Kahera

Novotel El-Borg is hosting a special khaima this Ramadan on the roof of the hotel which overlooks Qasr Al-Nil Bridge and Tahrir Square, making it a good spot for keeping an eye on Egypt’s unfolding political events. After being closed for so long, the roof restaurant has finally been opened to the public. The place offers modern decor and a variety of food options.

The Marriott hotel in Zamalek has taken orientalism to another level with their outdoors khaima, Somaa Basha. With decor straight from 1,001 nights, sohour will prove to be a different experience as you lay on cushions that are draped with orientalist-style fabrics. The khaima also boasts live entertainment, a comprehensive menu and shisha.
