Beko, an international home appliance company, has released Egypt-specific results from its global Smart Living Index (SLI), indicating increasing consumer interest in smart and energy-efficient home appliances amid growing awareness of operating costs and resource management.
The Smart Living Index is a large-scale international study examining how consumer attitudes toward sustainability, energy consumption, and smart technologies are evolving. The research, conducted independently by J.L. Partners, surveyed thousands of respondents across 12 markets, including Egypt, using representative demographic sampling.
Growing Trust in AI-Enabled Appliances
According to the findings, more than 50% of respondents in Egypt said they completely trust AI-powered home appliances, placing Egypt among the markets with the highest levels of reported trust in smart technologies.
The study also found that 66% of dishwasher users in Egypt value smart living features, higher than figures recorded in several European markets. Additionally, 83% of surveyed consumers in Egypt reported awareness of the running costs associated with tumble dryers, reflecting a relatively high level of cost consciousness.
The report suggests that in markets where households actively monitor energy use, adoption of smart appliance features tends to increase. In Egypt, smart technologies are increasingly perceived as practical tools for managing household budgets and improving day-to-day efficiency.
Industry Perspective
Hakan Bulgurlu, Chief Executive Officer of Beko, said the findings point to a broader shift toward more value-driven purchasing decisions as consumers respond to rising living costs. He noted that transparency, durability, and measurable efficiency are becoming key factors in appliance purchasing decisions.
Umit Gunel, General Manager of Beko Egypt and Regional Director for North Africa, said Egyptian consumers are making more informed choices regarding home solutions, with sustainability increasingly viewed as part of household financial planning. He added that the company remains focused on delivering energy-efficient appliances produced locally in line with international standards.
The Smart Living Index findings also reflect Egypt’s broader direction toward sustainability and digital transformation. As more households adopt connected technologies, smart appliances may contribute to improved resource efficiency and data-driven energy management at the household level.
The study underscores how economic considerations, technology adoption, and sustainability priorities are shaping consumer behavior in Egypt and other surveyed markets.
