The Arab Parliament has denounced, in the strongest terms, the European Parliament’s silence in the face of crimes and violations committed by the Israeli occupation in Palestine.

This comes as Arab and European countries and organisations condemned Israel’s recent brutal attacks against the Palestinians and occupied territories. They also expressed their categorical rejection of Israeli violations, which challenge international and humanitarian laws and covenants.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Arab Parliament affirmed that the European Parliament’s silence and failure to address Israeli human rights violations in the occupied territories reflects double standards.

It expressed its surprise at the European Parliament’s insinuations on the human rights situation in Arab countries, and its self-designation as a guardian to serve political purposes under the pretext of human rights.

The Arab Parliament voiced its hope that its European counterpart would take measures against the violations committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, which amount to war crimes and ethnic cleansing.

It renewed its strong condemnation and denunciation of Israel’s brutal attacks against the Palestinians, and called on the UN Security Council to take immediate action to stop Israel’s aggression.

The Arab Parliament will hold its emergency session on 19 May, to discuss the bloody events, especially around the Al-Aqsa Mosque

An emergency meeting is also being held for the Arab Parliament’s Palestine Committee, to examine the flagrant violations committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.
