Irishman Alex Maguire carded a course-record nine-under-par 63 to take a three-shot lead following the opening round of the second MENA Tour event of the Egypt Golf Series 2026 on Sunday.

Maguire recorded an error-free round at the Idriss Marassi resort in the North Coast, which is hosting the second of four consecutive professional tournaments scheduled to take place in Egypt. The event features a field of elite professional golfers from across the globe.

The tournament is being contested on the Mediterranean coast, where the Address Marassi course is recognised for its technical difficulty, length, and the significant impact of wind on play. Organisers stated that the hosting of the series reflects Egypt’s growing status as a destination for international golf competitions.

The MENA Tour schedule will continue with two further consecutive tournaments at the Idriss Marassi resort before the series concludes at the Madinaty Golf Club in Cairo. This sequence of events is part of the Egyptian Golf Federation’s commitment to establishing the country’s position on the global tournament map.

Each tournament in the series offers a prize fund of $100,000 and provides players with official world ranking points.
