Egypt’s Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) has signed memoranda of understanding with Chinese and Pakistani companies to localise the manufacturing of advanced military systems and technology, the authority said in a statement.
AOI Chairman Major General Mokhtar Abdel Latif stated that the agreements are part of a strategy to deepen local manufacturing and make the organisation’s factories a hub for meeting the defence needs of Egypt and “brotherly and friendly” nations.
The authority signed an agreement with China’s Shadow Wings to localise the production of technologically advanced defence systems. Abdel Latif noted that this cooperation would leverage the manufacturing capabilities of the AOI’s Aircraft Factory, which is headed by Major General Mohamed Awad.
Representatives from the Chinese firm described the deal as a starting point for broader collaboration in advanced defence industries.
Separately, the AOI signed a memorandum with Pakistan’s Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS). Abdel Latif said this partnership focuses on transferring technology across various defence sectors.
The agreements were signed on behalf of the AOI by its Director General, Major General Abdul Rahman Abdul Azim Osman.
Pakistani officials expressed their intent to strengthen joint cooperation with the authority’s factories, while the AOI indicated that further areas of collaboration are under discussion.
