President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi reviewed on Saturday the ongoing preparations for the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, scheduled for November 1, according to a statement by the Presidency.
The review took place during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi, and Mohamed El-Saadi, board member of the United Media Services Company and general supervisor of the event.
Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy said the meeting discussed coordination efforts among ministries and relevant authorities, covering logistical arrangements, proposed programme segments, and other organisational details related to the ceremony.
El-Shennawy added that President Al-Sisi stressed the importance of maintaining seamless coordination to ensure the event reflects Egypt’s cultural leadership and its position as a global centre of museums and heritage, while also supporting the country’s tourism promotion efforts.
The President emphasised that the ceremony should not only showcase the grandeur of the new museum—one of the largest in the world—but also highlight the scale of Egypt’s ongoing development and modernisation, presenting the nation’s contemporary image to the world.
The meeting also reviewed progress on development projects in the surrounding area as part of the preparations for the museum’s inauguration, in addition to updates on other tourism-related initiatives and the government’s broader plans to advance the sector.
