The 2025 Egyptian Open Golf Championship for Juniors and Ladies will offer unprecedented prize money of nearly EGP 1m and will see about 80 players from 12 countries compete, the Egyptian Golf Federation has announced.
The tournament will be held at the New Giza Golf Club from Oct. 23 to 25, a move the federation said is part of its strategy to promote the sport in Egypt.
The event will feature the Ladies’ Championship, known as the Nefertiti Cup, and the Juniors’ Championship, with about 80 players representing 12 countries: Saudi Arabia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, South Africa, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, and Zimbabwe, in addition to host country Egypt.
The prize money, which includes both cash and in-kind awards, is being offered for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Omar Hisham Talaat, president of the Egyptian Golf Federation, said the championship is part of the federation’s strategy to promote the sport in Egypt. He stated that there is an ambitious plan to make the tournament the most prominent and attractive event for juniors and ladies in the Middle East and Africa.
Omar Hisham Talaat added that the importance of the championship is not limited to the sporting aspect, as it also contributes to promoting golf tourism in Egypt by attracting international players. He also noted that it provides a vital opportunity for Egyptian players to compete against international talent.
