Egypt’s computer ownership increases 12.73% in 2019: CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that the number of Egyptian households with a computer increased to 15.58 million in 2019, compared to 13.82 million households in 2018. The jump in computer ownership reflects a 12.73% increase on the previous year.

A total of 13.72 million households had an internet connection in 2019, compared to 11.73 million households in 2018, an increase of 16.96%, CAPMAS added

The number of households with a mobile phone also increased in 2019, to 25.15 million, compared to 23.41 million households in 2018, an increase of 7.43%. A total of 25.22 million households owned a TV set in 2019, up 7.13% on the 23.54 million households reported in 2018.

CAPMAS indicators show that a total of 9.42 million individuals accessed the internet to obtain information on goods and services in 2019. These figures represented an 8.65% increase on the 8.67 million individuals reported in 2018

The number of internet users sending and receiving e-mails reached 29.39 million in 2019 compared to 26.26 million in 2018, an increase of 11.91%.

The number of internet users gathering government agency information reached 8.93 million in 2019 compared to 7.69 million in 2018, an increase of 16.12%.
