CAIRO: Ahly midfielder Mohamed Barakat should be fit to play against Ittihad Tripoli next week, following an injury scare in Monday’s 1-1 draw with Ismaili.
The 33-year-old limped off before the hour mark in what appeared to be a muscle strain, but Ahly said on Tuesday that it was only a minor knock.
The league champions also stressed that the injury should not hinder their in-form veteran from playing in the continental showdown.
Ahly already miss influential midfielder Ahmed Fathi in the match where they need at least two clean goals to reach the group stage.
The Reds are trailing the Libyan champions 2-0, following the first-leg defeat at Tripoli.
