Slight growth in internet user numbers supported by new ADSL subscriptions

 The number of fixed internet ADSL users increased slightly, by 90,000 new clients, in November, reaching 4.6m clients, up from 4.51m customers in October, according to a report issued by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

Meanwhile, the total number of internet users in Egypt also slightly increased in the same month to reach 37m clients, up from 36.9m in October.

According to the report, the number of mobile internet users declined from 29.12m users in October to reach 28.65m in November, a decrease of 1.6%.

Currently, five internet companies compete in the market: Telecom Egypt’s subsidiary TE Data, Orange ADSL, Vodafone Data, Etisalat, and Noor ADSL.

The report stated that the number of USB internet users fell from 3.33m users in October to 3.3m users in November, a small decline of about 0.90%.

The mobile communication services sector had increased its client base by about 970,100 new subscribers in October, rising from around 96.2m subscribers in September to roughly 97.2m subscribers in October. Etisalat recorded the biggest gains with over 671,400 new subscribers in that month, registering around 23.67m subscribers in October, up from 23m in September.
