The former minister of culture, Alaa Abdel Aziz has been referred to the general prosecutor for an investigation related to crimes of conduct, reported state-owned MENA. The offences are reported to have happened during his time as a teacher at the High Cinema Institute.

The official spokesman of the administrative prosecution, Abdel Nasser Khattab, said that the head of the arts academy filed a complaint on 3 June. There was a CD submitted that contained Facebook chat logs of the former minister, which contained indecent exchange with different women, including students of the institute.

The CD was reportedly submitted by the father of one of the female students, called Ghazy Mohamed Ramadan. The logs show that the conversations between the former minister and the students are indecent and are not appropriate for a member of the faculty. The prosecution prepared a report of their findings to be able to officially assign the ministry of interior to the investigation. The report showed that some of the conversations were sexual in nature.

The former minister worked at the institute till May 2013 when he was assigned his position at the ministry.
