The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Yasser El Kady, signed a two-year cooperation protocol with Wadi El-Gedid governorate to support five telemedicine units and five other integrated community centres in the governorate.

It comes within the ministry’s strategy to serve the community and provide appropriate health services in those areas as well as integrating persons with disabilities.

“The ministry seeks to deliver advanced technological services to all governorates, especially those at the borders, and develop telemedicine units and technological rehabilitation of integrated community centres to provide health services to citizens,” El-Kady said.

The agreement also stipulates that the ministry will cooperate with a number of international companies specialised in technological training to train youth and people with disabilities on using various technological programmes at the integrated community centres.

The agreement will enable the citizens of New Valley governorate to receive a sophisticated medical service using information technology at the hands of senior professors and physicians without traveling to remote areas.

The agreement also includes providing required medical equipment in small health units to provide medical care through telemedicine devices linked to the central hospital through video conferencing.
