Abdel Mohsen Salama elected as new head of Press Syndicate

Managing editor of state owned Al-Ahram newspaper Abdel Mohsen Salama was elected on Friday as the new head of the Press Syndicate, receiving 2457 votes, while his main contender, former head of the syndicate Yehia Qallash, received 1890 votes.

After his victory, Salama told reporters that he valued the unity of journalists and thanked the former head for his service.

According to the committee in charge of the elections, 4631 journalists cast their votes.
