Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Badr Abdelatty said that the foreign ministry will cooperate with the Ministry of Culture in supplying Egyptian embassies and consulates with photographic material depicting the damage done to the Egyptian National Library and Archives in the aftermath of a terrorist bombing that targeted the Cairo Security Directorate.

The bombing caused damage to some parts of the building and some important documents, in addition to the Museum of Islamic art.

Abdelatty added that Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Fahmy has tasked Egyptian delegations outside of Egypt with conveying the destruction that took place to the Egyptian National Library and Archives, which houses a valuable and rare collection of Islamic manuscripts, papyrus, Arabic calligraphy and other artefacts that represent Egyptian heritage. After damage to the architecture is assessed, the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture will seek to rally international support in an effort to renovate the institutions.
