The Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS) has signed a cooperation protocol with PhotonX to provide engineering testing, product conformity assessment and specialised technical services to manufacturers, supporting improvements in the quality of Egyptian products.

The protocol was signed by Khaled Soufi, Chairperson of EOS and President of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and Mohamed Magdy El Araby, Managing Director and CEO of PhotonX, in the presence of Maha Saleh, Assistant Minister of Industry for Industrial Policy Affairs, and a number of EOS officials.

Soufi said the agreement aims to expand cooperation in testing household appliances and engineering products, covering safety and security, electromagnetic compatibility, energy efficiency, environmental performance and sustainability.

The partnership will also provide testing reports to help verify products’ compliance with applicable standards.

He added that the protocol represents an important step towards strengthening the partnership between EOS and the private sector, while integrating the roles of national standardisation and quality bodies with specialised engineering and testing service providers.

The cooperation is intended to support the development of Egyptian industry on scientific and technical foundations.

Soufi noted that EOS is seeking to expand cooperation with industrial and technology companies to help manufacturers access the technical services required to verify compliance with standards. This would improve product quality and safety, enhance performance efficiency, and reduce technical barriers that may affect products in domestic and international markets.

The partnership extends beyond testing services to support manufacturers throughout the product development cycle, from design and development to performance verification, compliance with safety and energy-efficiency requirements, and preparation for manufacturing and export, Soufi said.

He noted that strengthening testing and conformity assessment capabilities is essential to increasing the added value of domestic industry and enhancing its competitiveness regionally and internationally.

The agreement reflects EOS’s role in promoting quality standards, developing and implementing Egyptian standards, and supporting product conformity assessment.

Cooperation between the organisation and specialised engineering and technology companies is expected to help manufacturers develop products that meet the technical requirements of their target markets and strengthen confidence in Egyptian products.

PhotonX provides a range of engineering services, including engineering design, prototyping, simulation and accredited testing, supporting industrial companies throughout the product development cycle, from initial concepts and design to verification, testing and preparation for manufacturing.
