Egypt is set to outline its upcoming reform priorities, future targets to deepen local manufacturing, and new policies to enhance private sector participation during the upcoming “Egypt 2026 Forum”, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on Monday.
During a preparatory meeting for the event, which was mandated by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Madbouly detailed the agenda for a session titled “Towards Productive Investment, Competitive Industry, and Sustainable Job Opportunities”. He described the session as one of the forum’s most critical, noting it is designed to address the direct challenges facing manufacturers and investors in the country whilst reviewing recent sectoral achievements.
The session will examine the role of government initiatives in supporting the industrial ecosystem and easing administrative procedures for investors, the Prime Minister added. It will also explore strategies to improve the work environment, boost the competitiveness of the Egyptian workforce, and align national education and training systems with the actual skill requirements of factories.
The preparatory meeting reviewed proposed working papers reflecting coordination across various ministries to present a documented assessment of Egypt’s business climate. The forum will highlight specific investment incentives within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, efforts to localise advanced industries in partnership with the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and mechanisms to empower small and medium-sized enterprises. Programmes designed to upgrade the skills of national cadres to meet cross-sector labour market demands will also be featured.
Officials at the meeting emphasised that the forum session must foster a constructive, interactive dialogue aimed primarily at the Egyptian public, whilst actively engaging the broader business community. This approach is intended to consolidate trust in Egypt’s investment environment and showcase competitive advantages for both local and foreign capital, reinforcing the state’s commitment to supporting productive investments and cultivating a sustainable business climate that drives economic growth.
Attendees at the preparatory meeting included Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad, and Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem. Also present were Suez Canal Economic Zone Chairperson Mostafa Sheikhoun, Arab Organization for Industrialization Chairperson Mohamed Abou Bakr, and Medium, Small and Micro Enterprise Development Agency Chief Executive Officer Mostafa Ismail, alongside other officials.
