EFG Hermes UAE LLC, a unit of Cairo-based investment bank EFG Hermes, has launched market making and liquidity provision services on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), the firm announced on Monday.
The services are designed to provide continuous two-sided quotations for DFM-listed securities in an effort to broaden order book depth, narrow bid-ask spreads, and facilitate price discovery across the exchange.
“We welcome EFG Hermes as a market maker on DFM, an addition that reflects the continued evolution of the market’s ecosystem and the growing role of institutional liquidity provision in supporting efficient trading,” said Khalifa Rabba, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Financial Market. “The firm’s participation supports continuous two-sided pricing across DFM-listed securities, enhancing liquidity, improving execution quality, and reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading capital markets hub.”
EFG Hermes UAE, which is regulated by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) in the United Arab Emirates, said the launch extends its existing capital markets operations, including securities brokerage, research, corporate access, and investment banking.
“As the region’s leading brokerage firm, our overarching priority is to continuously elevate execution quality and market efficiency for our global and regional clients,” said Ahmed Waly, Global Head of Brokerage at EFG Hermes. “Launching market making and liquidity provision services on the DFM represents a strategic evolution of our platform. By pairing advanced execution technology with our deep regional footprint to deepen market depth, support efficient price discovery, and enhance liquidity, we are ultimately helping reinforce the UAE’s position as a premier global capital markets hub.”
Amr ElShamy, Head of Electronic Trading and Execution Services at EFG Hermes, stated that the firm’s electronic trading infrastructure is built to deliver execution speed and system reliability required for continuous two-sided pricing for institutional and retail clients.
“Launching market making and liquidity provision on DFM extends our broader brokerage and investment banking services, spanning research, corporate access, and capital markets,” said Raymond Wasef, Head of Market Making & Liquidity Provision at EFG Hermes. “We leverage our global reach, comprehensive capabilities, and strong governance to connect UAE markets with international investors, supporting liquidity, market depth, and efficient price discovery.”
EFG Hermes UAE operates under EFG Holding, an Egyptian financial institution with operations across three main business lines: EFG Hermes, non-bank financial institution platform EFG Finance, and commercial lender Bank NXT.
