Daily News Egypt

Commercial International Bank (Egypt), or CIB, has signed a cornerstone investment agreement to purchase up to EGP 2bn in shares during the proposed offering and Egyptian Exchange listing of MNT Tech Holding for Financial Investments S.A.E. (MNT-Halan).

Under the agreement with MNT-Halan and MNT Investments B.V., CIB has committed to purchasing shares in the international tranche of the offering, subject to terms published in MNT-Halan’s offering documents. CIB stated that the aggregate investment reflects its continued commitment to supporting leading Egyptian companies while strengthening its presence across the financial services and capital markets sectors.

“CIB continues its leading role in supporting Egypt’s non-bank financial services sector, which represents one of the important sources of financing for the Egyptian economy alongside the banking sector,” said Amr El Ganainy, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Executive Board Member of CIB.

El Ganainy noted the bank remains committed to diversifying financing instruments and mechanisms in the Egyptian market, particularly through technology-enabled financial solutions and digital applications.

“MNT-Halan stands out as a leading example of this sector’s evolution, having demonstrated strong performance and significant growth in recent years,” El Ganainy said. “We are confident in the company’s potential to continue expanding its financial services offering and achieving further growth and milestones in the period ahead. CIB is pleased to support MNT-Halan through its investment in the company’s equity as part of the proposed offering.”

MNT-Halan Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Managing Director Mounir Nakhla welcomed the investment, noting the bank has partnered with the firm for over 15 years.

“I’m very happy that our partner CIB… is now joining us as a shareholder,” Nakhla said. “CIB knows this market exceptionally well, and its perspective and experience will be invaluable as we build the next stage of MNT-Halan. CIB believed in us early on, and their support for the non-bank financial sector has helped the entire industry grow.”

Founded in December 2009 by Nakhla, who was joined by Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Ahmed Mohsen in 2017, MNT-Halan is a technology-enabled non-bank financial services provider. The company supports the delivery of services including lending, payments, investments, and other value-added offerings.

As of June 2026, the MNT-Halan group had originated a cumulative total of EGP 178bn in financing disbursements and served approximately 7.9m customers. The firm combines a digital platform, the Halan App, with a nationwide physical network of more than 1,200 distribution points across 25 of Egypt’s governorates as at 30 June 2026.
