Egypt amends rules for commercial registry, notarisation services at bank branches

Daily News Egypt

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has amended the rules governing the provision of commercial registry and real estate registry notarisation services at bank branches, expanding the availability of these services and facilitating the completion of related transactions through bank branches.

At its meeting on 23 September 2026, the CBE’s Board of Directors decided to amend the rules issued under its 20 June 2021 decision concerning beneficiaries of commercial registry and real estate registry notarisation services provided at bank branches.

Under the amended rules, banks registered with the CBE may provide commercial registry and notarisation services. Commercial registry services will be available to everyone, while notarisation services will be limited to the bank’s customers.

The CBE requires each bank to obtain its prior approval before providing these services. The services must be offered through branches designated by the respective bank.

The CBE said all other provisions of the previous regulations that are not addressed by the new amendments will remain in force without change.

It also instructed banks to take the necessary measures to implement the amended rules with effect from the date of issuance.
