Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Nigerian billionaire and industrialist Aliko Dangote on Saturday to discuss potential investments in Egypt’s energy, fertilizer, and cement sectors.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Alamein Africa Business Forum and was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy noted that Al-Sisi praised Dangote’s prominent contributions to African industrialization. The president highlighted the regional and international expansion of the Dangote Group—West Africa’s largest economic conglomerate—and its success in bolstering production capacities across various African nations in the cement, fertilizer, energy, and food industries.
During the talks, Al-Sisi also highlighted Dangote’s historical connection to Egypt as a graduate of Al-Azhar University, describing it as a successful model of cultural integration and cooperation between African peoples. The Egyptian president reaffirmed Cairo’s commitment to empowering the African private sector as a principal partner in achieving the continent’s sustainable development and Agenda 2063 goals.
Dangote expressed his desire to secure Egyptian state support to facilitate his group’s investments in the country. In response, Al-Sisi welcomed the prospect of the Dangote Group entering the Egyptian market and affirmed that the government is fully prepared to provide all necessary facilities. He emphasized that Egypt’s modern infrastructure and integrated economic capabilities strongly position it as a regional hub for industry and energy.
