Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said the government is working to simplify customs concepts and procedures to ensure consistent customs practices and facilitate processes for investors, as part of an integrated institutional reform strategy aimed at improving customs awareness among employees and investors.
Kouchouk said in a statement on Sunday that 17 updated guidance manuals have been issued to support customs facilitation by providing clearer and more detailed explanations of procedures.
He added that the guides will be made available in both print and electronic formats to ensure easy access at any time, improve data accuracy and support efforts to enhance the investment climate.

For his part, Ahmed Amoui, Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, said the guides clarify and standardise procedures related to advance clearance, manifests, free markets, the Authorised Economic Operator programme, customs warehouses and temporary admission.
Amoui said the guides were the result of sustained collective efforts by customs officials and senior staff to compile, review and classify customs rules and procedures and turn them into practical references that facilitate trade and strengthen cooperation with investors and the business community.
