Waleid Gamal El-Din, Chairperson of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received an Omani delegation led by Said bin Ali Al Abri, Chairperson of the North Al Batinah branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to discuss opportunities for cooperation and joint investment.
The delegation included representatives from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sohar Industrial City (Madayn), and North Al Batinah Governorate, as well as Omani business leaders representing a range of sectors, including real estate development and contracting, industry and energy, logistics and maritime services, and healthcare.
During the meeting, Gamal El-Din highlighted the investment opportunities available within SCZONE, underscoring its integrated infrastructure, investor incentives, streamlined services, and strategic location linking the markets of Africa, Asia and Europe.
He said SCZONE is committed to strengthening cooperation with the Omani business community and creating new opportunities for Omani investment in priority sectors, supporting deeper economic integration between Egypt and Oman while advancing the shared interests of both countries.
Gamal El-Din noted that SCZONE provides an integrated platform for industry, logistics and trade, comprising four industrial zones and six seaports on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, supported by investment incentives and comprehensive investor services through its one-stop-shop system.
He added that the Authority is working to localise a number of strategic industries while maximising the advantages of SCZONE’s strategic location to serve regional and international markets.
Gamal El-Din also said SCZONE has successfully multiplied investment volumes in recent years despite regional and global challenges, reflecting its resilience, growing competitiveness, and ability to attract investment as a global investment destination.
For his part, Al Abri praised SCZONE’s efforts to enhance its investment environment, highlighting the advantages offered by its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and integrated industrial and logistics capabilities.
He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Egyptian and Omani business communities and expanding beyond bilateral trade towards broader economic partnerships that would enable companies from both countries to access regional and international markets.
The meeting followed a visit by the Omani delegation to SCZONE’s integrated Sokhna Industrial Zone, where members toured a number of projects in the energy, engineering and construction sectors.
The delegation also visited Sokhna Port to review ongoing infrastructure development, industrial projects, logistics services, existing investment projects, and the broader investment environment across SCZONE.
