The Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) and the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) have discussed ways to strengthen the international promotion of Egypt’s capital market and attract greater foreign investment.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, Head of the ECS, and Omar Radwan, Chairperson of the EGX, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance coordination among state institutions and promote Egypt as an attractive investment destination.
El-Sherif said the ECS is working to support the international promotion of Egypt’s capital market by leveraging its network of overseas commercial offices and its relationships with international financial institutions and the global business community.
He noted that the ECS’s overseas offices can help connect the Egyptian capital market with global financial institutions, investment funds, asset managers, and international investors, while showcasing the investment opportunities available in Egypt.
El-Sherif also stressed the importance of coordination among state institutions in implementing Egypt’s strategy to increase foreign investment and deepen the capital market. He added that the ECS would utilise its international network to help the EGX reach new segments of foreign investors.
During the meeting, Radwan reviewed recent developments in Egypt’s capital market and the measures being implemented to enhance its efficiency, diversify its financial instruments and investment products, and improve its competitiveness, with the aim of attracting more domestic and foreign investment.
The two sides also discussed mechanisms for leveraging the ECS’s overseas network to promote investment opportunities on the Egyptian Exchange and facilitate direct engagement with international financial institutions, investment funds, and asset managers.
Radwan highlighted the importance of strengthening international promotional efforts and communicating the economic reforms and measures being implemented to improve Egypt’s investment climate.
The two sides agreed to prepare a joint action plan that will include promotional roadshows in selected target markets, direct meetings and virtual seminars with international financial institutions, investment funds, and asset managers, as well as enhanced data and information sharing.
The plan will also seek to maximise the use of the ECS’s international network to promote Egypt’s capital market and increase foreign investment inflows.
The meeting follows directives from Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, to strengthen coordination among state institutions and intensify efforts to position Egypt as a leading regional investment destination.
According to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the initiative aims to enhance coordination among national institutions involved in investment promotion, increase foreign investment inflows, deepen Egypt’s capital market, and strengthen its role in supporting sustainable economic growth.
