Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the US-Iran war and developments in Lebanon, Libya and the occupied Palestinian territories during a phone call on Saturday, agreeing to continue close political coordination to support regional de-escalation and preserve stability, the Egyptian presidency said.
Al-Sisi opened the call by expressing Egypt’s full solidarity with France following the wildfires that affected parts of the country, offering condolences to the victims’ families and wishing those injured a speedy recovery.
He affirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide any possible support to assist France in addressing the crisis and expressed confidence in the French authorities’ ability to overcome its consequences.
Macron thanked Al-Sisi for Egypt’s support, describing it as a reflection of the strong ties between the two countries, and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership between Cairo and Paris.
The two leaders exchanged views on efforts to contain regional tensions, particularly in relation to the war with Iran and the situations in Lebanon, Libya and the occupied Palestinian territories.
They stressed the importance of resolving conflicts through peaceful and diplomatic means to safeguard regional security and prevent further escalation.
Al-Sisi and Macron agreed to maintain consultations and political coordination between Egypt and France in support of de-escalation efforts and the promotion of peace and stability across the Middle East.
Macron also enquired about the recent incident involving two vessels at Damietta Port and expressed France’s solidarity with the Egyptian government and people.
