Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Sunday reviewed preparations for the launch of the second phase of the presidential “Decent Life” initiative, which aims to upgrade infrastructure and expand public services in villages across Egypt.
The meeting was held at the government’s headquarters in New Alamein City and was attended by Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, Chairperson of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority Khaled Abdallah, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Walid Aref, representatives of engineering consultancy Dar Al-Handasah, and other government officials.
Madbouly stressed the importance of ensuring comprehensive preparations before launching the second phase of the initiative. He said implementation should build on the lessons learned from the first phase to accelerate project execution and ensure that new facilities enter service according to the planned timetable.
The prime minister added that the projects are designed to improve the quality and efficiency of public services provided to residents of targeted villages across a wide range of sectors.
Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany said the meeting reviewed the scope and key components of the initiative’s second phase, as well as the proposed implementation timetable for its development and service projects aimed at improving living conditions in rural communities.
Officials also reviewed progress on the first phase of the initiative, highlighting projects that have been completed and others that have already entered service across various development and public service sectors.
Launched in 2019, the Decent Life initiative is one of Egypt’s flagship rural development programmes, focusing on upgrading infrastructure and expanding access to essential services—including sanitation, healthcare, education, housing and utilities—in villages across the country.
