Mwasalat Misr has announced its operation of the X-Bus electric in Cairo, from Abdel Moneim Riad square to New Cairo.

The new bus is the cumulation of massive efforts led by the Arab Organisation for Industrialization (AOI), with the help of Easy Mobility for public transport technologies and software, Fawry e-payments, Orange communications, the Egyptian Company for Tracking Services and Information Technology, and FiberMisr.

The smart electric bus system is the product of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by AOI

Shanghai Wanxiang, one of the largest Chinese companies specialised in the manufacture of electric buses. This alliance will be in cooperation with Mwasalat Misr and United Investment in order to provide an integrated smart public transport system to Egypt under international standards for sustainable urban transport.

The 44-seat electric bus stops at four main stations: Ramsis Square, Abbasiya, 90th Street, and the American University in Cairo.

The first journey of the EX5 electric bus starts at 7:30 am and the price per trip is EGP 25, with a EGP 7 discount when using the Mwasalat Misr smart card.

In line with European specifications and standards, Mwasalat Misr will launch its ambitious strategy to generalise electric buses to its vehicle network, and by 2037, all factories around the world will stop producing diesel buses and all production will be directed towards electric ones.
