Five female teenagers and a woman are to appear at court in connection with the death of the Egyptian student Mariam Moustafa, who was attacked outside a shopping mall in Nottingham earlier this year, the United Kingdom’s police stated on Monday.

The six accused people will be brought to Nottingham magistrates court on the 27 September on charges of affray. They include three 17-year olds-, two 15-year-olds, and a 19-year-old girl.

The Nottinghamshire Police said that it would “keep an open mind” that the assault might be motivated by hate. However, it noted that there was no information to suggest that it was a racist crime.

Mostafa was subjected to an attack on 20 February by a group of girls as she was waiting for a bus. The girls followed her after she rode the bus and repeatedly attacked her according to the British police.

The 18-year-old went to the hospital and received treatment, but her condition deteriorated and she fell into a coma, and died in hospital.

Moustafa’s family said that the same attackers were involved in another assault earlier in August last year, which left Mariam hurt, as well as her young sister.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry called upon British authorities to take the necessary legal proceedings to make sure that the attackers were brought to justice. It also addressed the concerns over the medical treatment that the young Egyptian girl received after the assault.

Mostafa was an Egyptian engineering student at Nottingham College. She was born in Rome. Her body was flown to her homeland in May, while hundreds of mourners offered prayers at a service held in her memory.
