The UIPM World Modern Pentathlon Cup takes place in Cairo

After the International Union for Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) closed the electronic website for registering at the 2017 UIPM World Modern Pentathlon Cup, a total of 22 countries will participate.

In addition to Egypt (the host country), these countries are Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, the UK, Hungary, Guatemala, India, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

The world cup is to take place at the Cairo International Stadium from 21 to 27 March, under the auspices of the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Khaled Abdel Aziz, and the Egyptian Tourism Authority.

12 male Egyptian players confirmed their participation: Yasser Hanafy, Eslam Hamed, Sherif Yasser, Sherif Nazeer, Abdel Rahman Korany, Ahmed Hossam, Ahmed Osama, Mohanad Tarek, Mohanad Yasser, Aly El-Din Sherif, Omar Hany, and Shehab El-Din Ashraf.

12 female Egyptian players also confirmed their participation: Haidy Adel, Salma Ayman, Mariam Amer, Sondos Tarek, Reem Yakot, Norain Boulos, Nadine Youssef, Hana Ihab, Nour Abbas, Nouran Gamal El-Din, Maya Abdallah, and Nada Gamal El-Din.

The Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation accepted the request of the teams of Belarus, Ireland, Guatemala, and Switzerland to join the Egyptian team in a training camp, which started on 7 March, to prepare for this prestigious event.

The UIPM, presented in a delegation that consists of 17 persons, confirmed its attendance to such a great tournament. This delegation includes the UIPM’s president, Klaus Schormann; and Shiny Fang, general secretary.
