The Cairo Opera House is organising a concert in Hurghada with a message of peace to the world on 31 October. The concert will feature works in three different languages: Italian, German and English. The objective is to encourage tourism to Egypt and specifically to the Red Sea. The event will take place in Sahl Hasheesh and will include a selection of ballets, operas and classical musicals.

Head of the Opera Inas Abdel Dayem stated that the different national institutions have a role and obligation towards the country, and that the Cairo Opera House feels responsible to take part in promoting tourism in the country. In addition, tourism is one of the main sectors for the continuation of the opera’s concerts and activities. Even before 30 June, artists and intellectuals took it upon themselves to promote Egyptian art and culture and protect them from any disfiguration or intrusion. The role continues through promoting a message of peace to the world, considering that the language of art is a common aspect globally.

The concert will be presented in two parts, beginning with the national anthem and then followed by the Cairo Opera company and orchestra led by Maestro Nayer Nagui. The selection will include parts of famous operas such as Carmen, The Barber of Seville, La Traviata, The Magic Flute, Les Mesirables, The Phantom of the Opera and Romeo and Juliette, among others. The singing talents will include Elhamy Amin, Iman Mostafa, Ezzat Ghanem, Hala Al Shaboury, Hesham El-Gendy, Tamer Tawfik and Jacqueline Rafik.

The second part of the concert will feature the Cairo Opera Ballet under the supervision of Armenia Kamel. The ballet company will perform a selection from various famous ballets including Zorba, Scheherazade, The Nutcracker and others. In addition, the company will also perform a selection of folklore dances from all over the country.
