CAIRO: Ahly s marketing director Adli Al-Qaeyi sees no reason why the Red Devils can t exchange players with arch-rivals Zamalek.

Egypt s football history did not witness any player joining Ahly from Zamalek or vice-versa.

All the players who made such shocking moves were free agents like former Egypt greats Hossam Hassan and Gamal Abdel-Hamid.

If Zamalek contacted us regarding signing one of our players we will seriously consider their offer, Al-Qaeyi, who is renowned for his ability to lure big names to Ahly, told the club s official website on Thursday.

If we find that selling that player won t have any negative effects on Ahly we will accept Zamalek s offer.

If Zamalek have a player who is not performing well due to bad luck, why can t they sell him to us? The same applies to Ahly.

Recent reports suggested that the Cairo duo might strike a historic swap deal.

According to those reports, the deal would see Zamalek defender Hani Saied joining Ahly, with Ahmed Farag and Hassan Mostafa going in the opposite direction.

But Zamalek said they were not ready to offload Egyptian international Saied, who is widely considered as the best defender in the country.

Al-Qaeyi hopes to see Ahly one day compete with the world s biggest teams in the transfer market.

Our reputation is getting bigger and bigger, so we deserve to sign high-caliber players.

For instance, I hope that Ahly battle it out with a club like Tottenham Hotspur for a player s signature one day.

I would like to see that player snub Tottenham and join us. We are ambitious but we have to work hard to reach such position, he added.
