Aviation minister, British ambassador discuss restoring tourism to Sharm El-Sheikh

Minister of Civil Aviation Sherif Fathy met on Monday with British ambassador to Cairo John Casson to discuss the means of cooperation to increase aerial movement between both countries and “restore British tourism to Sharm El-Sheikh.”

Fathy said during the meeting that there is full agreement between Egypt and Britain on the necessity of cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of aerial safety and airport security. Casson commended on the ministry’s efforts in the field of airport security.

The British Foreign Office suspended flights to Sharm El-Sheikh following the Russian jet crash n 31 October. Russia shortly followed suit suspending flights to all coastal cities on the Red Sea. The Russian plane carrying 224 passengers was on its way to St. Petersburg from Sharm El-Sheikh when it crashed in Sinai.
