In a continuation of operation ”Retribution for the Martyr”, the armed forces announced that Egyptian forces killed 30 extra-state militants and injured 10 others.

Four members of the Egyptian armed forces were killed, and eight others were injured in the North Sinai raid.

During the raid, state forces destroyed eight fields where militants were hiding, in addition to four cars and a motorcycle operated by militants. Three army vehicles were destroyed by explosives, according to the Armed Forces’ statement.

Abdallah Shokr, a member of the Al-Dostour party in the Beheira governorate, was among the government forces killed in action, Shokr’s fellow party member, Hany El-Gammal wrote a statement on his Facebook page.

“It saddens me that I was not close to Abdalla personally. He was such a humane person; if we all shared his humanity, things would be much better in Egypt,” Al-Gammal said.

Sinai has become the scene of frequent clashes between the extra-state militants and the Egyptian armed forces, which launched an intensified counter-insurgency campaign to curb militancy in the governorate.

According to military’s records, hundreds of terrorists have been killed in the first and second phase of operation ”Retribution for the Martyr”.
