Parties announce initial results of phase 2 parliamentary elections

Two Conference Party candidates have won seats in parliament in second phase parliamentary elections, whilst five others will be in the runoff across the governorates of Cairo, Qaliubiya, Ismailia, Sharqeya and Daqahliya, the party said on Tuesday.

Amin Rady, the party secretary-general said: “The two winning seats were part of the For the Love of Egypt list. The first one from Sharqeya named Magdy Morshed and the other from Suez named Nancy Samir.”

Meanwhile, other five candidates who will take part in the runoff phase are competing on individual seats. The candidates include Taha Sayed, who gained with 17,772 votes, followed by Ahmed Shoeib who won with 16,775 votes, and Mohamed Al-Toukhy who won with 13,147 votes.

The initial results do not include the ballots of Egyptians abroad, which will be announced by the Supreme Electoral Commission (SEC) later.

Further, the Free Egyptians Party announced that one of its candidates has won after vote were sorted in 12 electoral subcommittees.

According to Essam Khalil, the party chief, candidate Samy Al-Mashad advanced with 2,322 votes, while his opponent Sherif Afifi took 1,154 votes.

At least 10 of Al-Nour Party candidates were promoted to the runoff phase, but there are no winners so far. The candidates include party deputy chief Sayed Mostafa who won 7,728 votes, according to an official statement by the party on Tuesday. Abdel Halim Gamal, another Al-Nour candidate in Sinai was promoted to the runoff phase with 2,008 votes.

Moreover, Mohamed Badran, head of the Future of a Nation Party announced the runoff of 50 candidates and speculated their success by nearly 70%, in addition to two seats on the For the Love of Egypt list.
